Tinted windows - extra cost on car insurance ?

I am expecting delivery of a VW Touran in a month or so and have ordered tinted windows to the rear/passenger area.

Will this affect my insurance premium, I am sure I have read this somewhere before.

has to be done to manufacturers specifications - also many insurers will have a cut off percentage - check with them first

It is a factory fitted option, think the tint is 85%

The only way to find out is to inform your insurers. Different insurers will have different attitudes to such a change.

    85%?!

my insurance is an extra £50 a year for something like 35% tinted in the front and 50% in the back.

85% is a hell of a lot - 100% is obviously measured as zero visibility - with only 15% visibility on dark night you would hardly be able to see to drive:confused:
