Worth trying disconnecting the cable and then reconnecting it to make sure it is plugged in properly.0 -
When you click on shutdown & your screen darkens a little (before you choose which shutdown option you want) can you see a noticable flicker on the screen? If the answer is yes then you need to change the configuration of your monitor, some monitors have an auto button which change the settings automatically. Alternatively you may have to click the menu button on your monitor and manually change the refresh rates etc.
You only need to do this if you notice "Screen Flicker" in the shutdown mode.

Are you running in the tft's native resolution? Make sure you are. tft's aren't like standard monitors (crt's) where the image can be accurately stretched. If you have a 15" tft the native resolution is 1024x768, and if you have a 17" or 19" tft the native resolution is 1280x1024.
Also, I think it's already been mentioned but make sure you have Cleartype fonts turned off.
I don't think it'll be the refresh rate. Most tft's run at a rate of 60Hz (up to 75Hz if you're lucky but the difference isn't noticable). They don't suffer from the same flicker problems that crt's do.
Always worth updating to the latest graphics driver too, and also the tft driver."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -
If your monitor and video card have DVI connectors (normally white) use those instead of the VGA (blue) connectors.
I have seen one case where changing the video card has got rid of blurriness when running at non-native resolutions. This was observed on 2 different TFT's. The card in question was an old Geforce 2 GTS, replacing it with my spare (but newer) Radeon 9600 Pro sharpened up the display. I suspect the reason was the better and faster DAC (Digital to Analog Convertor) on the Radeon.Hug provider for depression thread :grouphug:
