Reused jiffy bags!

Sorry i know in 2008 we should all be trying to use less plastic etc but i'm getting a little fed up with buying items off ebay that come in scrappy old reused jiffy bags and 'padded' with 5 year old bubble wrap (most of which has been popped!)
If i pay £8 for postage and the actual postage comes to about £1.50 where is the rest of the money going? OK they have to take time out of their busy days and park in the centre of town etc. But is it a unreasonable to expect a fresh jiffy bag? After all you pay for "postage and packaging"
I even had one item arrive in a carrier bag sellotaped with must have been half a reel of tape and a scrap of paper used for the address (although to be fair the postage price was accurate)

I know some sellers do advertise the fact they recycle packaging, although we always use New Mail Lite bags as they only work out at 9-10p each0

I'm all for reusing Jiffy bags - what a waste otherwise. It's also more environmentally friendly. I see your point when they're past their best, though.******** Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity *******"Always be calm and polite, and have the materials to make a bomb"0

I think reusing where possible is a brill idea but I agree that the postage charges should reflect this.
Also think if bubble wrap is all popped then really shouldnt be used as its no longing fulfilling its purpose.
I use the mail lite bags too as such a bargain and hence my postage prices are considerably low compared to others selling similar.Proud to be dealing with my debts - DFW No: 712

I use mail lite bags for my items and they don't work out that expensive, I usually keep old jiffy bags for extra packaging though when needed. I do get annoyed though if something arrives in a tatty old bag when I have paid lots for P&P.0

i always re-use jiffy bags, bubble wrap, mailing bags, boxes, tissue paper etc and nobody has ever complained.
i often receive items wrapped in just a carrier bag, although usually the thicker bags or bag for life bags rather than the thinner supermarket bags. as long as it gets to me in one piece in the condition described for the price i agreed to pay then i am happy.0 -
I take the bubble lining out of used envelopes and use it as extra internal packaging in boxed items. Most of the ones I receive are in too poor shape to be reused as main packaging.
One of my annoyances is when I receive a package with a piece of paper sellotaped over a third party's name and address. Those who are reusing packaging should take steps to ensure there are no personal details on it other than theirs and the receipient's.0 -
I don't mind people reusing either....i wouldn't be happy if packing was sooooper old tho

i used to re-use where appropriate however i judged it on the sale value.
if it was an expensive item i often used new packaging just so it 'looked' better
i dont mind either way as long as its well packaged.
some of the packaging ive seen on my own items and through work are terrible.
worst was a fairly rare cookie jar(OH collects them) that was just in a box with a bit of newspaper.of course shattered in a million pieces on arrival.
got a refund but we really wanted the item0
