Can I make a few suggestions to anyone thinking of changing suppliers. Please check that everything is correct with your current suppliers first!

Make sure you are being billed on the correct meter.

Make sure you have been billed correctly- check your meter readings-do not accept estimates.

If you have had any meter exchanges write down the details-often if these happen within a few weeks of changing suppliers the information does not get passed along the line.

Take and keep meter readings on the change of supply date.

Call the Meter Point Advisory Service (MPAS- for Electric) for your area and make sure you give the correct MPAN for your property to your prospective new supplier- this would reduce the wrong property being taken over.

And last but not least do not chop and change within weeks as all the companies involved get confused electronic messages sent which makes for problems for YOU.

Many companies get blamed for problems which are not of their making and by following the above simple steps the whole energy industry will run smoother for all our benefit. Take some responsibility to help yourselves.
