Motorcycle Accident - Help!
Hi,
On Thursday morning I was going to work and came off my motorbike on a roundabout. I ended up on the road while my bike carried on and hit the side of a lorry causing damage to his bodywork.
The police attended the scene and they immediately noticed diesel on the roundabout and told me in normal circumstances I wouldn't have come off (it's a bike with only 500 miles on the clock). He advised that the council knew about the spillage the day before so I had a good chance of claiming from them.
I just don't know what I am supposed to do now. As far as I can tell, the lorry company will claim from my insurers, which means I have to pay my excess and lose my no claims, then I will have to claim everything back from the council/Highways agency and get them to pay for the repairs to my bike.
Is that the right way to do it? It is taking a long time and the lorry company hasn't got in touch with me yet to get my full insurance details.
Also, I went in to a Honda main dealer to get an estimate of the repair cost for the insurers and they wanted to charge for this, is this normal?
I'm very annoyed about all this because it's so much hard work!

Yeah...you've got it the right way around. The lorry company will just get in touch with their insurance company and it'll be them that get in touch with you.
Many repair shops now charge for estimates because people get them with no intention of ever giving them the work.0 -
Get in contact with White Dalton on Monday. Explain the situation, they will help. They are well known in the motorcycle community.

Classic symptoms that would indicate that an additional award may be appropriate are as follows:
Avoiding discussing the accident;
Being very upset, usually in tears, when having to discuss the accident;
Sleeplessness and nightmares as a result of the accident;
Flashbacks;
Avoiding going anywhere near the place the accident occurred;
A breakdown in relationships with family and friends
Heightened fear of travel, whether on a motorbike or even in a car;
Problems coping with work or life in general.
Fake some of those0
