advice needed ref e-on electric pre pay meter charges
I recieved a letter today stating that i have an outstanding balance of £487.00!! this taking into account that i am on a pre paid meter. I phoned e-on and was told this relates back to 2005!! i was also told that nobody had been to my adress and reset my meter the reason for this was that i had not called and arranged an appointment for someone to call!! in the past 3 years i have had numerous meter readings but was told this person does not have the power to reset my meter. if all of this is the case there must be thousands of customers out there who must all have this problem. i believe i should not have to pay this charge as its their incompetence that has caused this. can someone please help and advise thanks.

This is a well known problem and lots of threads on this if you do a search.
The bottom line is that you are liable for that charge, although it is clearly wrong that this should be the case. Pre-pay in fact means paying something on account!!
There has been a big fuss about this subject with questions asked in Parliment, and some firms, including the much maligned British Gas, write off the whole amount.
Other still want payment(NPower for one I believe)
I would speak to Energywatch and get them to take up your case with the supplier.0
