Credit Card Help!

in Credit cards
It would be much appreciated if someone could give me advice, i'm in a little bit of a panic.
Like all of you, i'm trying very hard to keep up with payments and not incur any charges or bad credit scoring.
However, with being busy of late, i remembered that my credit card had to be paid by the 10th March (this monday), i paid online today and phoned my credit card company to ask if this would incur any charges, she advised that it would as they wouldn't receive the payment until mid-week next week.
ARGH!
Is this right?, would i be able to claim back any of the charge? and what will it do to my credit scoring?, this is the first payment i'll be late with.

Yes, see the back of your statement for payment clearing times.angelmagic wrote: »Is this right?, would i be able to claim back any of the charge? and what will it do to my credit scoring.
Probably, everybody else seems to be doing it: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.html?f=102

With some cards, you can pay cash in at a bank and that sorts it immediately - for example, I can pay cash from my Barclays account to my Barclaycard the same day. Perhaps phone and ask this?
Could you set up a DD for the minimum payment? That way you know at least the minimum has been paid off....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
