Credit check query

Hi there,

First post on here but have been lurking for a while. I cannot tell you how much help and advice I have got from reading these posts.

I have had an offer accepted on a house and had my MIP in place from Abbey. Having read a post on here it seems that Abbey are putting up their rates from Monday. So I e-mailed the broker yesterday to say I wanted to go ahead with the full application...no reply as yet.

My question is, I must have had a credit check done on myself to get the MIP from Abbey. If the broker doesn't call back in time and I/he can find something more competitive will the fact I have had a recent credit check already go against me? I haven't applied for any credit apart from this in the last 6 months?

Many thanks for any help you can offer.

Possibly, especially with regards to mortgages, whilst a search on your file doesn't state the outcome, mortgage companies I think are more likely to suspect rejection when you are applying for another mortgage.
I suspect you will be fine with just the one search but think very carefully about making ahabit of this.

With such a time sensitive issue I would be ringing my broker rather than relying on e-mail.
Ring him today if he wants your business he won't mind a call at the weekend and can probably submit your app on line.

Thank you for your reply chappers.

I did follow the e-mail up with a phone call this morning...but only an answerphone and no reply as yet. I will try again this afternoon.

Can a full application be processed over the weekend then?

All apps have to be in before 4pm Sunday so you will be pushed to get it keyed if you dont get hold of him today. Many self employed brokers dont work weekends, I dont but I do a lot of evenings intead.

What product are you going for? You may find another lender has a deal at the same rate.

I believe it is only until lunchtime tomorrow that you can still get the current range

Sounds like your broker does not work weekends and you will miss the deal

I have not seen their exact rates yet, but Abbeys notification indicates rates will increase by 0.05% and 0.35%

    Thanks Dan,

The broker is an advisor from Charcol. Could I perhaps ring them this afternoon if he hasn't replied? Surely someone else could key it in for me?

I am going for the 10 year fixed rate at 5.69 %. I have recently become a single mum to 2 young children and so required the consistency of payment even though I am sure it is not necessarily the best financial sense.

    Thank you herbiesjp,

Hmmmm, I should just ring Charcol direct shouldn't I?

You could do - or get in contact quickly with another whole of market adviser

If you're sure you want the deal, unfortunately you need to move quickly

Have contacted Charcol and the advisor is not in and they seem to think that only he has the login details to take the mortgage application forward. How frustrating!

    Very frustrating.

If that is a definite no, you'll have to try and find someone else to place your business

They could get another adviser to login, would mean another DIP and another search but at least you'd get the rate.
