I can understand that-however, the enquiring mind/tight wad in me asks that if i had paid the policy in monthly instalments, would they have asked me for the remaining premiums due????

The answer to that is yes.
  • that clears that up!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ;)
I am a fee charging WoM Mortgage broker.
I now no longer give information and opinion within the Mortgage boards, because a number of posters who, having approached me professionally, agreed my fee-which has been been made very clear at the outset, taken my advice (normally cancelling a [home visit] meeting at short notice) have then approached one of the fee-free brokers on here to arrange the very same deal I have advised.
Whilst I totally concur with the ethos of "money saving"- abusing the goodwill of a professional who provides a quality service is taking it too far!

Although you may find that if the car is agreed to be stolen, and you then replace it, you don't have to start a new policy with them, but can continue to use the current one, obviously with any additional premium payable if you buy one with a much higher value. Also I believe - always always check this! - that since you still have valid fully comp policy you would be insured to drive another person's car with TP cover, with that person's permission. So from that point of view the policy is continuing in force, as long as neither you nor they cancel it. Depends how long it has left to run, and of course you'll be shopping round at renewal time anyway. Especially if you don't feel you've had particularly good service with them over this!

To my way of thinking, I'm prepared to pay a few pounds extra on my insurance if I've been happy with the company I'm with, rather than save a small amount - which it usually has been - and risk disastrous customer service! My time is money too!
