  • hehhee well i wasn't going to go just for the freebies. I'm not really thinking of a rail card cos flying from manchester to bristol is only £19. I'm still torn between Natwest, HSBC and Halifax though. Halifax might seem the obvious choice, but the CS is absolutely apalling.

I won't even use the overdraft. I'm afraid of debt lol.

Signing up at the freshers fayre may give you a few extra freebies, but nothing spectacular. Natwest were giving away a mug, stationary kit and piggy bank in addition to the rail card if you signed up there and then.

Since I was an existing account holder I showed them my Natwest debit card, and they let me have the freebies for being an existing customer!

I don't know what NatWest would have done if he had not repaid them as they requested.
Started charging him interest at an exorbitant %?

but, does having 1 or more overdrafts permanently at or near their limit affect your credit rating? You might make a couple of hundred quid from it, but a couple of years after graduation, when you try to get a mortgage, will you be adversely affected?
