Ryanair refunds - gift vouchers?

Has anyone tried the approach of flight refunds by way of their gift vouchers?

I (very silly looking back) bought 2 flights for my son and his girlfriend as a suprise xmas gift to Venice for April. They have since split. My son won't go on his own, I paid for it all and wondered if I could get SOMETHING back SOMEHOW for him to do something else. I have read how impossible it seems to be to gain back taxes etc for cancelled flights and admin charges. I have not cancelled the flights and read with interest that if you wont gain anything by cancelling why bother. Ryanair don't make it easy for you to write to them via email and only seem to want people to ring, which I wont do at the prices they want to charge, and peoples experiences of such calls getting them nowhere. Does anyone know of an address I could write to by way of post OR has anyone had any success with a similar dilema? Any advices would be grateful.

I would say that you have two hopes - and bob has just left the building!

Seriously if they won't give you a cash refund i doubt they will give you in effect a credit note either. When you book you agree to their T's & C's which is pretty much no refunds ever, whilst it may be harsh its the way they operate.

Could he not get a friend to go, just paying the "name change" fee?.After all the flights are already paid
Otherwise write it off. THEY DONT DO REFUNDS end of.
  • Am just dead jealous that my son managed to get his money back for the diamond ring he had bought to take with him! It was a goodwill gesture on behalf of the large chain jewellers. Would like to give Ryanair the chance I suppose of some such goodwill gesture.

Agree with bf and b_h, you don't stand a chance. I am a big fan of Ryanair, but they do not give anything more than they have to in their t&c's ... ever!

BTW, it is only 10p a minute to ring them (but I honestly wouldn't bother) x
    Gone ... or have I?

I recently wrote to them about shocking service that I recieved at the address below, although as already suggested I wouldn't bother, I got a standard reply letter which didn't even address my issues. i then wrote to the head of customer services, Caroline Greene, again without any joy, I did get a response but little more than a snotty letter and an apology.

You can give them the oppurtunity but it won't get you any where unfortunately.

Discussed to death on here already. Yes you can claim the APD back but Ryanair charge an administration fee to do this which is always equal to or more than the refund amount. The whole exercise would be a total waste of time, effort and money.
