Transfering my Mum's balance to mine.

in Credit cards
Hello everyone.
My mother is currently in hospital and I'd like to transfer her credit card debt/balance onto my 0% card. This is so I can help pay it off and have an interest free breathing space. Can I instruct my card company to press ahead with this without my Mum's consent? She is also paying payment protection on her card.
Many thanks.

Yes but the debt transfered becomes your debt.
If she is paying for PPI have you considered a claim?0 -
Hi there, thanks for replying. I have requested a form to claim but I wasn't sure it would be worth it if all they refund is the late payment charge. Which would come to £12. I'd be better moving it before the next interest charge.0

I would expect them to pay either a percentage of the debt or minimum payment over the next 12/24 months if you make a claim for sickness under PPI. check out your mums PPI details.
Also is she sick from an existing illness? then they may not allow the claim. But surely I would say she should claim if possible as she has paid for it!!. Check before you transfer anything its worth checking once the balance is transferred not only is the debt yours but the PPI will not pay out as the debt has been repaid as far as your mums acct is concerned.
anybody on this forum please correct me if I am wrong
Best of luck:beer::beer::beer:0 -
Yes good advice here, do NOT transfer the debt if your mum can claim on the PPI protection.
If you transfer the debt to you, then the PPI payments become worthless, as you are taking on the debt.0
