How do you find out a bus operator?

Hi - I need to find out who operates a particular bus in order to check whether or not it's running any more, but don't know how.

According to a search in google, the bus runs from Milton Keynes to Luton Airport (service 70), but an elderly relative who wishes to use it next week says that she's never seen it and even waited at the stop today hoping to see it and it never arrived. I want to help her by ringing the bus company, but don't know how to find out which one to ring. I don't live near her so can't look at the bus stop, besides which she tells me it doesn't mention Service 70.

Any advice would be very welcome.

Its an arriva service and was running in September as they issued a new timetable

    See this link for info

From the timetable it takes an hour 40 minutes to complete it's journey so I'd look into other routes if possible

Thanks, Keith. There is no other service, according to my aunt. I'll give them a ring tomorrow (or Monday if they're not open). They issued a new timetable at the end of January - http://www.miltonkeynes.gov.uk/transport/documents/70.pdf
but she lives more or less next to the bus stop and has never seen the bus, so is doubtful of its existence, understandably.

There IS another bus service, run by Virgin trains. Every hour. Whether you have to have a train ticket on from Milton Keynes to use it I don't know.

Thanks, but my aunt isn't travelling from Milton Keynes and doesn't want to have to go there first in order to get a bus, if possible. She's an old lady and will have luggage, so it would suit her not to have to keep changing since there's no one to help her with her bag.

I've already checked Traveline and they claim there's a bus that goes past her house, however, she's never seen it. I'll ring Arriva on Monday and find out some firm information.

I suspect that the 70 DOES run, but not on the route expected - maybe the next road, or a similarly named road or something like that.

Your plan of ringing Arriva sounds good.
