Hello,
As the title say's.
Just seen a VW car on auto trader that caught my eye :T rang the seller/dealer to get the reg number.
Once i got the reg, I rang VW's about what service schedule the car's on (long life) and they also told me that it had never been in to have a service at VW's.
Would you buy a car that had never been in to a dealers?

Any advice? I may go and look at the car + paperwork tomorrow.
will deffo hpi before any/if cash handed over.

  • I'd happily buy the car, SO LONG AS:

    1) it's in good condition; and

    2) they lower the price sufficiently to reflect the lower value because of a lack of service history! :-)

Try owners forums armed with mileage and age and ask what the effects of no service might well be. I would personally avoid any car that has definitely had no servicing whatsoever over more than 18 months or 20,000 miles.

it may have been serviced and had the book stamped by an independant VW specialist?

    .

A car does not have to go to the dealers to get a service, by saying "it had never had a service at VW's" does this mean it can have had one somewhere else mabye ?

    thanks for the replies.
It dose say on the advert fsh, just a little surprised about not had first service at VW's.
It's done 71k, had 1 owner, looks tidy going by the photos.
They have priced it at 5995 for 03 52 plate. which seems cheap?
who's best for hpi check, i'm insured with rac.

We don't know what model of VW, so we don't know if its cheap or not.

If its been on long Life, it will have had about 3 services. If not, then every 10,000.

    It was a 1.9 tdi se auto/tip
waste of my time going to see it realy, had 88k on the clock, not the 71k that was on the auto trader ad. Also didn't look like cam belt had been done, few panels were not sitting right, no service book, it felt iffy so walked away, shame as it ticked all my boxes.
Went to look at another vw tdi 51 plate auto with 98k on the clock and that to never had cam belt done, also had the gearbox recon'd, no mention of that in ad. walked away lol.
Are those gearbox's prone to go wrong? not the first i seen with recon g/box!!
The search goes on... . ..

    But Golf? Passat? Bora?

Edit: Would it be the black Golf auto?

Looks like a trader working from home. Just done a search onm autotrader...
