Egg - Another £10 cashback offer

I received this email from Egg this morning. I only got the card so that I could get the £15 annual family travel insurance, and haven't used it since.

"We've noticed your Egg Card hasn't been out and about much recently, so we wanted to give you a little incentive to take it shopping again. After all, that's what it does best.

Spend £50 or more on your Egg Card between now and 31 August 2005 and we'll credit your account with £10 by 31 October 2005*.

Things you should know
*Offer only applies to purchases made with your Egg Card between now and 31 August 2005. Where a transaction made by 31 August 2005 does not reach your account by that date, the credit to your account may be delayed. We may deduct the credited amount from your account if you are given a refund for any purchase(s) you made to qualify for this offer. Your account will be credited with the £10 spend reward by 31 October 2005.

This might actually be enough of an incentive to make me use the card for a change!

I also got this same offer today in my inbox, after not using my Egg card for a few months. Interestingly my anniversary offer should kick in next month, and if I take advantage of the £10 cash back, I may find it hard to benefit from the balance transfer. I wonder if this is intentional on Egg’s part?

Ducer - Can't you just spend £50 on it then pay it off immeidately? Then you would still e entitled to your anniversary offer?

I don't think its tied in to the anniversary offer as mine was last June but I got the email today as well.

My only question is whether the £50 needs to be in one transaction or not. Anyone know the answer to this and is Martin aware of this yet?

Thanks comicmankev. I had already thought of that but figured it may be touch and go to get the payment through in time. However I have now looked into it a bit more and it seems I can make a debit card payment on Eggs website at any time during the month. This being the case im going to give it a shot.

I made use of an offer like this last year as well. Im fairly sure the whole transaction has to exceed £50, anandp. In our case thats easy done with a trip to the supermarket for a monthly shop.

Yes - I got this email as well - also coincidentally just before my anniversary offer in September.

The £50 spend is in total - does not need to be in one transaction.

I agree with comicmankev - this is what I did last time I got the offer.

Its done. I spent just under £80 on big food shop last week and have now paid the amount off in full via my debit card. All well before the statement date of the 28th and well before my September anniversary offer. It seems to have been straight forward...
