Getting a DVD recorder to record Sky etc

Hello!
Another techie problem..... I've just bought a DVD recorder, the Philips DVDR3480. It doesn't do satellite channels on its own, and my BiL has said something about a central SCART unit so that it can. BiL is currently unavailable in France, and I'd love to get it going over the weekend. Does anybody have any clue what he's talking about, and what the piece of kit is that I need to buy?
All comments appreciated....

If you set the dvd recorder to record the signal on its 'scart-in' socket and plug the satellite receiver's 'scart-out' into it then you should be able to record satellite.

Oh! Thanks, Shambler - that sounds like I don't have to buy any new kit after all?

Just connect the scart lead from the Sky box to the AV2 inlet on the DVD recorder, and set the recorder to record from AV2 when programming. You need to make sure the Sky box is on the correct channel of course,(or else use the Sky planner to change Sky channels between progs if you want to record different Sky channels)
