Ok, have you spoken to the council to arrange a payment plan with them for the debt? Not wanting to freak you out, but non payment of CT is pretty much the only debt you can actually still be sent to prison for not paying, so this needs to be sorted fast-as long as you talk to the council, I'm sure they will able to work something out with you that you can afford.

Secondly, I am worried about the consolidation you mention-who is organising this for you? If you are paying a company to do it, please please please call one of the free debt charities-CCCS and Payplan are both really good, and they can manage a debt replayment plan for you for free, which means all your money will go to repaying your debts, not to pay a consolidation company.
Please call CCCS and the council first thing tomorrow morning! xxx
  • well luckily i got this job now-thats where all our pennies went :(

CCCS will be able to give you advice on tracking down creditors with previous addresses for you.

I don't think you need me to tell you that if you can't afford to pay your bills, spending money on clothes is kind of not really top of your list at the moment...

Also wondering aloud how your finances are arranged? You mentioned paying OH your 'keep'-you're a team!

I am afraid you are wrong if you signed up to a debt management plan with them then not all the money you pay goes to your creditors they take a cut. The other products they sell are secured loans - which did you go for?
  • oh ok will get hold of then then thanx
i know but having NO clothes to wear to work is quite importtant believe me if i was gonna mindlessly shop-it woulda been shoes!!! not boring office wear! all i have are going out clothes & jogging b's!

well hubby pays all the rent & household bills we (usually) pay our individual bills & i just gib=ve him £200 ish & pay for food x

Hon, I've just googled Shakespeare and debt payment, and the company that comes up is called Shakespeare Finance-is this who you are with? If so, they look like a commercial company, and certainly aren't registered as a charity or not for profit organisation-this means that if you are paying them £100 a month, they will almost certainly be taking a cut, and possibly quite a large cut, before they start sharing money out between your creditors...
  • oh??
feel like an idiot now! well havemt paid them anything yet but they DO keep ringing to see when im gonna send the form back....?
i better get on to that cccs eh...?
    thanx so much ;)
