Yeah she knows that and is happy to take the risk. She's not exactly a friend, more just someone I know. She knows what everyone is claiming, she and her work colleagues take it in turns to do each other favours or searching friends/family. She's been there 8 years and I'm guessing she's done it since she started, just one of those things I guess. Anyway, thats not the point I was making, was just trying to make the point that anyone can claim DLA regardless of your status

This is disgusting ~ never mind officials looking on these forums to catch benefit cheats they should find your *friend* and her colleagues and give their @sses a heafty kick towards the kerb!!

It's wrong i know tigtag02,but it just don't stop there, when my wife picks up the children from school there are two other mothers who work at the magistrates court, and they frequently give out information about parents who's children attend the school when they are due to come up in front of the magistrates, when questioned why they do it they just laugh and say, well if the court manager does it why shouldn't we.
  • This breach of trust and "nosiness" is appailing. All of these people deserve to lose their jobs. There are laws for a reason and the public need to have faith in these officials.

Your point is a valid one, lots of people might think DLA is means tested, I didn't mean to cause a bone of contention, thanks for the info.

  • I think that she should put in a claim for dla reguardless of how much is earnt as its not means tested, also if he qualifies and somebody cares for the son who doesnt work then they could claim carers allowance. I personally do not see why someone who earns loads, is famous etc shouldnt claim, as im sure they pay more in tax into the system in the first place.

People who earn loads probably pay less tax than your average Joe Public on PAYE.
Accountants can always find loads of loopholes for rich people to escape through. Not that I blame them, if I could so would I. I have no doubt it is an accountant who sorts our child benefit, DLA and anything else that is not means tested for the rich.

    I agree.

An additional point: people who claim benefits are often treated unfairly or messed around. Those who are wealthy and successful are likely to have the skills to complain, and so make the administration of benefits more effective, not only for themselves but also for all the others who suffer but do not have the skills to complain.

I didnt think you could get a blue badge for Autism?
I got a blue badge for my son (4) who is autistic. We do not get mobility dla.
  • Thanks Bestpud, that was exactly what I meant.

SDW, just because somebody's eligible for a benefit doesn't mean they have to screw everything out of the state if they don't actually need it! We may be Moneysavers but we can also have scruples!

DLA is meant to cover the "extra" costs of disability. In my case, things like buying and running mobility scooter, starilift, other electrical equipt in the house etc. If he is earning £100k he is surely paying a helluva lot of tax so why shouldn't he get DLA?

Does anyone think it is unscrupulous to claim child allowances? I don't think so. I don't have children but I don't mind my taxes being used to fund this.
