Who is the cheapest for connecting a landline.

I need a new landline not cable at my new address. I am not going to use it much. BT have quoted me £124.99p as previously existing line has been disconnected ages ago.It needs to be a 12 month contract.

I am told their are a few suppliers that can connect one ,does anyone know who is the cheapest please.

  • I should have said i dont want to be tied to a particular Broadband Service. A friend of mine recommended Madasafish they wanted £115 connection for a new line but wanted me to take their broadband.

Is their anybody cheaper then the Phone Coop £116.33.

There are others but i can't think of them off the top of my head. The cheapest you'll probably get is around £110 minimum (iirc), but that might be with tie in's for broadband (stress might).

The other thing worth considering is what the provider charges for their monthly line rental, after all their connection charge could be lower but their line rental could be higher.

The Post Office will connect a new line but they dont appear to publish a price.

Plus also your calls might cost more with other providers.

    Hi missterry

UW charge £99 for a new landline (minimum 12 month contract and Homephone service).

    Good luck

    Mike works for the UW.

Wonder why when he posts these ads he fails to mention you must also pay a monthly sub to join their "discount club".

So on top of his quoted £99 plus 12 months minimum contract on the uw homephone service you have to pay the monthly sub (£1.76 to £3, depending on what level you join at), and the homephone plan is subject to a minimum charge of £1 each month. So the actual minimum cost of having a landline installed by them is the quoted £99 + £12 (minimum monthly charge) + £21.12 (minimum annual club membership fee) = £132.12. And then you have to also pay their monthly homephone charge!
  • Gosh, another post deleted without explanation.
