Scottish Power Online
For those of you that are registered with scottish power online, are you able to view all your previous bills online, and I really mean all since you have been with them?
The reason I am asking is because I need to see all my old bills and payments that they have received from me since about 2000 but they want £4 per bill from me to do so, and I am to pay upfront so if I can view them by joining online I will save myself a small fortune.

I can't answer your question exactly, other than I'm an npower customer and I tried to do the same thing and it only allows me to see bills since I signed up.
Out of interest, is there some particular reason you need to see eight years' worth of bills? If it's to calculate your usage, you'd probably be able to get Scottish Power to do that for you.Says James, in my opinion, there's nothing in this world

Just logged onto my Scottish power webpage, only shows bills back to Jan 07. Had online account longer than that.
Hope that helps0 -
Well my bills between 2002 and 2003 were estimates and as far as I can remember they were paid up to date and then I was sent a bill after a meter reading for almost £2000, I tried to dispute this, my concern was that it was a one bed flat so it was not possible for me to use that amount so could my dodgy landlord have messed with the wires or something as I had my nextdoor neighbours water tank in my house but they said I would have to pay them to check my wires etc (which I couldn't afford) so they installed a card meter where I was to pay off the bill gradually. I moved out nearly a year ago and have been sent a letter from debt collectors for £2000, which should have been paid !!
scottish power are saying at some point over the years my meter was reset not to include paying off the old bill so I asked them to send me a complete breakdown of all bills and payments but they want me to pay for these and they said I would need to pay them at least £80 upfront for aprox 20 bills.
Scottish power reckon I owe them £1500 and the debt collectors are saying just over £20000 -
Thanks Rimski0

Can you not ask them to prove it by them producing the bills. To show that you do owe it ??0

I did and thats when they said I would have to pay for aprox 20 bills at £4 each.0

OK I'm a little confused now. (Easily done).
So as of 2002 you had paid based on a meter reading, yes? When you say 'between 2002 and 2003' are you talking about one year or two? Did you pay any of that £2000 bill? How much did you owe after that? You then say a pay meter was installed. How long did you live in the house paying on a pay meter?
Even if it's two years it's hard to believe that your estimated bills were out by up to £2000.
I would suggest first asking Scottish Power if they can just tell you when your last metered reading was - this is not unreasonable and they shouldn't charge you for it.Says James, in my opinion, there's nothing in this world

lol me tooSo as of 2002 you had paid based on a meter reading, yes?
no it was estimates which I paidWhen you say 'between 2002 and 2003' are you talking about one year or two?
I got 2 bills which were taken from meter readings that they did in 2003 and the 2 bills which I received within 1 month of each other totalled about £1400 which I got in spring 2003 which stated they were for the period from 2002 to the date I received themDid you pay any of that £2000 bill?
I asked how the (bleep) that was possible for a one bed flat etc etc, I refused to pay and headed to CAB who were of no help and the response from Scottish power was that this is how much I was due according to the readings, during this time the account was put on hold so I paid nothing and my next bill was added. 2 weeks after the CAB response I was told they had a warrant to enter the flat to install a payment meter to get back the money I was dueHow much did you owe after that?
about £1800You then say a pay meter was installed. How long did you live in the house paying on a pay meter?
About 3 or 4 yrs. I was putting on average £40 a week in the meter, the heating was electric so it would be about £70 in winter and £25 in summer, I was originally told when they installed the meter that it was set to pay back £10 a week off the bill. After 2 1/2 yrs I figured something wasnt right as the bill didn't seem to be going down, so I phoned and got a sympathetic call centre worker and she went through it all with me....she calculated I had paid into the meter about £400 over the previous 60 days but nothing had came off the bill because at some point someone had reset it, and she assumed that would have been when someone has came out to reset all meters when a price increase occured. So where was all the electric going? I did the test of turning off all appliances and checking them all but found nothing out of the ordinary, I asked them if it could be being used by someone else and was told that I would have to pay for someone to check that and if that was the case I would get the money refunded but if it was due to a faulty appliance it was tough, I had a dodgy landlord so I spoke to him and he just shrugged and said my problem. I have since moved out and got forwarded a debt collectors letter for £2096 so I phoned up scottish power and they said it is actually £1500Even if it's two years it's hard to believe that your estimated bills were out by up to £2000.

I have done and they wont budge they insist I owe them it , so i asked for copies of all the bills sent out to me since the account started and a record of all payments I have sent to them but they said that I have to pay £4 per bill averaging 4 bills a year so they said it would be about 20 bills at a cost of at least £80 which I am to pay upfront. If they could prove to me how I have used so much electricity, I will arrange to pay it but they wont explain how these figures have came about and the CAB said they can't make head nor tail of scottish powers accounting either:huh:0 -
Ulcer, I have worked in the prepayment department in Scottish Power and I have never known anyone to ask for £4 per statement that they issue - I have never even heard of it. You have probably been speaking to the General Team who deal with everything but prepayment.
Chance your luck....ring the prepayment department - 0845 270 3333, and ask the agent you speak too if they can send you out a copy of all your statements. Its a nice easy call for them, and hopefully they will oblige. Its worth a shot!0
