Does anyone know of a Bank/Building Soc that offers free or very low charges on a BUSINESS Account ???
I run my own business and since my introductory offer ran out find it very expensive to maintain the account !!!
I am paying about £40/month in charges which may not sound much but over a year is nearl £500 !!!

i use abbey business... absolutely brilliant ... no charges at all .. and pay decent interest on my money... i do everything online .. and have a "reserve account" with even higher rates and i just transfer monies between the 2 accounts to earn the most interest.
never had a single issue or problem in 3 years.0 -
Thanks for that I'll certainly look into it !
Do you have a deal with them or is the account in a private name ???
Or do they not charge for business accounts at all ???
Anyone else confirm this ???0 -
What kind of transactions are you doing to generate £40 per month of charges?Amazon sellers club - member number 63.
January challange - sell 10 items. 0 down, 10 to go!0 -
Are you sure it's £40 per month and not per 1/4?0

Definately Abbey Business if not then there are some other banks offering free banking at the moment, avoid Barclays like the plague very expensive!
Sorry forgot to mention, they do not charge at all, but if you are likely to need large overdraft facilities, you may have to look around0 -
We have been with Abbey for 18 months.. brill.. no charges ever on anything.. only problem. we are not on line as untill this site have never really used the computer so do everything via the phone.. sometimes it takes over an hour to get through, however we only ring them in the evenings so cannot comment on if they are any better at answering it in the day.0

Thanks once again I'll definitely look into it with hopes of moving to them !
With reguards previous reply asking what transactions create £40/month charges . . .
Normal paying in of cheques + cash and a few DD's / standing orders etc !!!
In my first year of trading all banking was free ! I am currently being charged about £20 to £25 /month, based on 50% discount because I'm in my second year of trading ? Next year it will 100% so will then be £40+ /month
Thanks all once again !!!
Hope it goes well I'll keep you informed !
With regards the forum ? Is there a way of being notified that a reply has been posted ??? rather than keep logging in each day ???
With a couple of other forum's I use you get e-mail notification automatically if anyone replies to a thread you are watching untill you discontinue watching it !!! Can this be done on here ??? If not is there a suggestion box ???

Yes,
Just underneath the box where you type your response is a section titled Thread notification. Just move it to instant email notification and you will get an email everytime someone responds.0 -
Hi,
I have a similar post to yours, and thought you may want to see the replies I had. Some say Lloyds are good but it depends on the business manager in your branch, others say Abbey are good but if you have a problem your call could be routed via India.

I would be interested to hear what deal you are offered by Abbey if you chose to switch as I have not committed to anything yet.
Good Luck
