Credit Card Probs!!

Hi all, hope someone can put my mind at rest.

On Tuesday I bought some tickets from seetickets.com

Had a phone call just from seetickets to say that my new mint card (that was activated Monday night) has been declined...I called back and we retried using it but was again declined...ok some problem with the activation I thought, so I used my SkyCard which was accepted.

Now here's the problem....

I just logged into my Mint account to see if I could find out what the problem was, however this previously unused card has got an available credit amount of the credit limit less what the cost of the tickets were:

eg. if my limit was 1000 and the tickets are 500 then my available balance is 500.

There is nothing listed in the transactions

Now is there something dodgy happening here? If the card was declined why is the credit reduced? Is it just reduced because there was an attempt to use it but was declined-I suppose it would reduce to normal shortly?

Obviously I will call them later but I just want to put my mind at rest!

Also how long does it usually take for a transaction to appear on your online statement?

Many thanks for any advice and mind-resting!!!

Don't worry too much, I have seen similar on my own accounts and it has sorted itself out.

The available balance is reduced because the declined transactions are showing in "Pending". Because the transactions didn't complete, they should simply drop away from "Pending", but this can take a few days.

Keep an eye on it, but as long as no actual Transactions appear relating to these failed purchases, then there should not be a problem.

    Hope this helps.

i think it's called ear-marking. The money, although not used for the ticket transaction, as been ear-marked for it. My girlfriend had a payment for something on-line declined, but the amount she was trying to spend was made unavailable for a short period becasue it was earmarked. It should sort itself out. Annoying though

    Update....

Phoned Mint, they told me the payment had been made and went through on the 4th March.

So I call Seetickets again and they tell me that nothing has been charged from the Mint card and that it should sort itself out. He said it may have gone to a holding account?

Don't know what to think now?!!

I had this before when making a debit card payment a few months back, I had plenty of funds in there but it was declined, however, the amount I had tried to pay still disappeared from my account! Called my Bank and they said the money had been ear marked and would return to my account within 5 working days if it wasn't claimed (!?) - I called back the people I was paying and they said they had no idea how they could claim it, so I just left it for 5 days and sure enough it returned to my account. Never found out what happened.
