before installing the wireless router, did you use to have to enter a userid/password to get access to your ISP connection.........

if so, you will need to enter this into the router's config page.

I would also suggest that you change the admin password..... asap......

for the laptop, you need to run the wireless netowrk wizard, go to start, settings, control panel, wizard should be there.
once you have run it, it should then make the laptop default to search for wireless networks, everytime you start it up
smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to.... ;)

Rikki ring the 0800 freephone number which can be found on the Belkin website. I first had problems with my set up, and was walked through how to set things up. I'm now quite happy and able to configure all my pc's in my home.

Have you ever gone online with the laptop using a dial up number? it maybe your laptop cannot get online because it's trying to connect by a moden.

Goto tools --> Internet options --> Connections then where it says choose settings change that to "dial whenever a network conncetion is not present. Click Apply and then click on the tab LAN settings and check the box Automatically detect settings. Click ok and then try it
    Welcome, rogerramjet.
