Hello I have been unable to open any PDF files on my computer since i got it (2yrs) and I cannot remove abode from the add and remove programs list or install a new version either :-)
When i have to open a pdf document my computer will freeze and i will have to restart it
I have tried to reinstal abode 7.0 from the CD i received when i brought the comp but it halts and states an better version is already installed and coses down
I have tried to remove it from the add/remove programs list but it states
" this patch package cannot be opened verify that it exists ETC etc
I have gone into My program files and found the abode foulder and none of the components there can be removed either or be reinstalled
Please help I could really do with being able to access PDF files
If there is no way to get rid of abode is there another packed that can read these files ???
Many thanks
finn

Can you try and run the uninstaller from the start menu or from the installer from the CD (choosing uninstall not install)
If you can then download the latest Adobe Reader from http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
and install this newer version.
Or try Foxit Reader from www.foxitsoftware.com/0 -

I've tried to remove Adobe 8.1.1 from my laptop and I'm getting the message "This patch package could not be opened"
Any advice on how to uninstall this???
I'm having lots of problems of late with Adobe??

Try using the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility to remove it.The true cost of something is what you give up to get it.0 -
Many thanks, seemed to have removed it. Looks like lots and lots of people have had problems with Adobe 8.
Do you recommend I re-install, or try and use Foxit Reader??

Depends what you use it for, you may not be able to do as much with Foxit, but I find it's fine for reading downloaded Manuals etc.
From my point of view Foxits' advantage is that it doesn't install itself all over your PC, wanting to put itself into your startup and installing updaters.

Use foxit, it's smaller, lighter and compared to adobe faster!
You should be aware however of this piece of advice:
http://www.snapfiles.com/opinions/Foxit_PDF_Reader/Foxit_PDF_Reader.htmlI used Foxit for about six months and made the error of clicking on "text" only to discover it will not let you go back. The program then nags continually asking for you to buy the upgrade. I reverted to Adobe Acrobat 6 and will remain there. Very disappointing. I would reluctantly recommend it, but point out the crippled portion of the program.
I've not clicked 'text' and it still works fine for me for what limited use I put it too.
HTHIt could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.0 -
Thanks, it's only for opening PDF files.
I've had a major problem downloading my e2save cashback forms and other stuff as well.
I'll give Foxit a try and see how it goes.

It should be fine, much quicker and lighter than Adobe, download from HERE (Foxit Reader 2.2(.exe))Move along, nothing to see.0 -

Can I have both Adobe and Foxit?? If so what's the best version of Adobe??
