We've been with british gas since we moved into this property, our gas bill is £38 a month, with our electric bill we've had problems as for months they refused to take any money form us even though they had our direct debit details and in the end we had to get the energy ombudsman to sort it out, we agreed £60 a month to cover our debt and future bills, we then had a review and they increased it to £100 a month saying we were using on average 30 units a day, ive been taking our meter readings daily and rang them up today and we're now using on average 21 units a day but they say that will only make £5 a month difference so we still need to pay £100 a month and £36 a month for 2 years to clear off our debt so now combined were paying £174 a motnh for gas & elec, ive looked at uswitch and put in our usage and they've found us one that will charge us £86 a month for gas & elec which is a huge saving, but as we owe £864 in debt to british gas because of their mistake would we be able to change and keep paying off british gas the £36 a month?
