Tiscali who provide me broadband and to whom I already pay my phone calls to have said that for £19.99 a month (which is less than I'm paying now) they will include my line rental and all my phone calls plus broadband which is really tempting. What I'd like to know is, is there any disadvantage of moving my line rental from BT ? What if I had a problem with my line - who would I call - Tiscali or BT ? If I did move to Tiscali I'd save £140 a year which would be great. Any advice appreciated please.

hi, if you had problems with your line you would have to get in touch with tiscali who would then send a openreach engineer out to repair the fault, openreach is BT. so it makes no differance if you go with tiscali. the only differance would be a saving of £140 but you will be tied into a new contract with tiscali.0

BTW, who do you think will buy Tiscali?
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/02/29/tiscali_sell_off_confirm/Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0
