Can I switch after just 5 months with British Gas?
Options
Hi,
I switched to BG a few months ago due to them being cheaper and did this via a cashback site.
Now with the price rises all the comparrison sites say if I switch to eon I will save around £140 a year plus cashback of £55 via quidco.
Anyway I do not have any contractual paperwork to say that I am tied into a fixed term or minimum and cannot find anything in this respect on the website in my account.
Does this mean basically that I can change when I want to a new supplier?
Also if this is the case one could change technically every month claim cashback and have virtually free gas & elec, thats if it did not take so long to switch

You could try but it takes longer than that for a transfer to go though! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

You are the customer, so of course you can change anytime you want to.
(But as far as the quidco money making scheme, they are hot on any member they perceive to be abusing their merchants, and changing as frequently as you suggest does look like abuse).0 -

You could of course use a different cashback site each time you switch,0 -

what's stopping me from switching supplier every two months? I'd probably be making money.:money: IT Geek & Martin Wannabee :money:0 -

Probably the hassle of doing it every two months! Yearly is enough for me (what with two kids and a very busy job).'Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts' : Member number 632

The changeover period states a turnaround of a few weeks, varying on how fast the companies exchange data etc so not only is it a drawn out affair but the suppliers struggle to bill correctly as it is let alone you changing frequently your asking for trouble. Agree with the teacher above once per year sounds sensible enough. Please support my thanks button if I have been of any help
