Hi Guys
is it ok if I install the central heating system from local plumber (non corgi) and get it checked by corgi plumber? is it legaly allowed?
What certificate should I get from the Corgi plumber who will come to check the system?
I checked in my local area there are corgi plumber who does check the sytem for safety.
Is it worth installing the system from non-corgi person and getting checked by corgi person? I found if I do this way I do save around 500 quid. Please help me !!!!
thanks in advance

I would draw your attention to the warning notice at the top of the 'In my home' page.
As the warning notice states, use a professional to be safe in your home.;)10 Dec 2007 - Led Zeppelin - I was there. :j :cool2: I wear my 50 (gold/red/white) blood donations pin badge with pride. Give blood, save a life. 0 -
No idea about legalities I'm afraid, but there may be an issue with guarantees if a non corgi reg person is used.
I know my boiler stated that installation must be carried out by corgi registered bloke.Herman - MP for all!0 -
I think any gas installation has to be carried out by a Corgi approved installer

You or a plumber can install all the wet end of a heating system.
You cannot install or fiddle with the gas services unless you are competent to do so.
Competence working with gas in the uk today is generally regarded as someone corgi registered.
Just another one of the (sometimes very necessary) rules you have to live with.
Of course you may have a tough time finding a corgi registerd person to check and connect the installation anyway as some will not touch it unless they have installed it themselves.
Good luck with it.0 -
Just to let you know I have seen the ads for gas safety check which offers the gas safety certificate. This will be done by corgi register plumber and it is not that expensive. its around 90 pound + vat
