    What do you like?
    Shopping - Meadowhall
Cinema/bowling/ - Centertainment sheffield (nead meadowhall) would recomend seeing a film here it has fantastically big screens (was biggest screen in Europe when opened)
Museums - Western Park, Kelham island
Sports - Ponds forge for swimming / sheffield ice for ice skating

Also there is an xscape at castleford (the same as milton keynes one) which is not too far away
I have enough money to last me the rest of my life, unless I buy something
  • Spend some time on the Sheffield Forum, espcially the going out section which also covers events and you will find details of everything happening in and around Sheffield from concerts to school fairs

Believe it or not, I actually a work as a tourism officer in South Yorkshire :) Mainly for heritage attractions and historic churches though.

Depends what you like really, here's a few attractions I'd recommend:

Drive into Penistone in the Peak District (still within Barnsley boundary), the villages around there are lovely, some nice walks too.
    Mining Museum
    Yorkshire Sculpture Park
Elsecar Heritage Centre has a new antiques centre
    Cannon Hall
    Weston Park Museum
Centertainment (Sheffield - there are no cinemas in Barnsley)
    Meadowhall for shopping
    Bishop's House
    Conisbrough Castle (Nr Doncaster)
Sheffield has some great theatre venues also
2008 wins: Avon handcream, 4 x body cream set, L'Oreal moisturiser, Tom Tom One XL sat nav, Jackie Collins book, Orange Liveradio, 6 night holiday to China!, 2 x Status Quo tickets, St Helier Cider stuff, Aperitivo bowl, signed Paul O'Grady book, Jessop's CeWe photo book, Flight of the Red Balloon dvds/book, Wild Bean Cafe mug & spoon.

    Hello Xtreme

Although Xscape has been mentioned a couple of times, nobody mentioned that there is a large shopping outlet (with a Nike outlet store;) ) on the doorstep too. I've picked up lots of shopping bargains there. So you can combine the snow slopes fun with some retail therapy.

It's off junction 32 on the M62, near Castleford.

Try the National Coal Mining Museum just outside of Wakefield. It's a really good day out for adults aswell as kids and is very informative. Been twice now with Mrs Chalky_bertie.

    Hi
York is not too far away & is fab!! Very olde worlde cobbled streets & quaint shops. The Minster is pretty cool too.

If that's too far for you to go I would suggest visiting the Peak District (weather permitting) as there are some great walks & fantastic views (LadyBower is lovely).

    Hope this helps!
The Rock Chick, she say 'courtesy costs nowt' - spread the word! :D
