DT vs. MSA?

Is there really any point in DT? Most of the threads there should be in MSA, and any threads that should be there don't really have the moderation capability or understanding to be debated at an acceptable level, so where does this forum stand? As far as I can see, you are opening yourself to a massive can of worms, without the ability or comprehension to moderate such discussion.
Id suggest that you keep it simple.

Every forum, no matter how specialised their general subject (in this case money saving), needs a general area for discussion and banter, so as to keep the main boards free of chatter - which is why the board guides often move threads to DT or the Arms.
In a forum as big as this one, with over 250,000 members, there is sure to be lively discussion and chat, and lots of threads started, and discussion that becomes rude, aggressive and unseemly. However it would take massive resources to police DT and the Arms for Admin or the board guide to vet each thread and move, close or delete and even then many users are bound to get upset.
DT and MSA are a hodge podge of opinion, jokiness, chat and whatnot, and as I said it's what keeps the money boards free of trivia. When a user sees something offensive or in any way unacceptable, they should report it. That is the only way we have to weed out the unpleasant.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -

As for the occasional odd post I'm beginning to learn that may be sometimes it's best to let go and let people be, and in extreme cases report.
Having said this I for one am able to appreciate that you brought it here to explore as it looks so appropriate a way of addressing it unlike some regularly having a go at threads and Ops and spoiling it for everyone else.0
