Advertising for New Employees

Hi,

I was wondering whether anyone knew of any ways of advertising for new employees for free other than online

Please help as I'm researching for an upcoming interview and can't think of any alternative methods of free advertising :p

Many thanks :)

Won't the local job centre (or whatever they are called these days) advertise / promote a vacancy for you for nowt?

Your local college would be a good point of contact too depending on role etc...

Editorial would be free on local radio / TV / papers if you could could "spin" a story behind why you needed more workforce. In my experience you need to take an almost complete story to them as journalists are notoriously lazy individuals :-)

You could approach trade specific media but they are more likly to give free press to paying advertisers so if the company has an advertising budget for this kind of thing then you'd need to team up with those responsible for spending it BEFORE they do so you can leverage their supplier into promising editorial etc...

Oh and if your time was considered as "no cost" you could stand in the street (or outside a competitors) with a sandwich board and give out leaflets!!!

    Car sticker "Need a Job - Call 01234 567 890" - although that is a bit "2nd Income"

I tried to advertise for staff but its too " P.C. " these days.

An employer is unable to specify age, experience , or honesty as requirments.I just stuck an advert on the back of my vans and found 2 very good employees .

Thank you for your replies. Job position is a Resource Coordinator in HR.

I need to find advertising methods that they don't already use .. a press release and local colleges/unis are great ones that I hadn't thought of and will def take to interview.

    Hi,

We've advertised our last few vacancies with the Job Centre and have been pleasantly surprised with the excellent response.

It would be worth looking at the local Uni websites - one of ours advertises for free, and the other charges, IIRC.

We're a local charity and can submit our vacancies to the council's Vacancy Bulletin for free.

We also email and write to churches and other local contacts and put vacancies into our volunteer newsletter, but that may not be helpful in your situation.

You can sometimes get a free 'add-on' eg pay to advertise in a publication and get it on their website for free. But I know that's online.
