No it isn't. I pay into my ICEsave account by BACS.
... whilst you can only withdraw from ICEsave into a linked account, you can fund it from anywhere.

    Excellent: thanks, Mr. H!
I much prefer BACS to DD (even if it is only one-way in Icesave's case). As others have said, it's so simple once the transaction's set up, and very easy to plan ahead.

I've recently registered with Icesave and am awaiting the account to be set up, so this is of great interest to me, but quite possibly also to others; so instead of being part of this thread, would it be worth you making a separate post with its own title, as easily-findable info for other Icesave investors? -- as it's one of the popular destinations for savings at present.

I signed up for a savings account on Monday and am still waiting for my account details email.

I received the initial email, with my account number, but have since despite a follow up email and call, not received the account details.

    Hopefully it'll come soon!

In the case of icesave you specify the date the DD will take place. So no problem with budgeting.
DD is indeed good for budgeting without losing interests.

However, the problem with IceSave, the clear funds transfered into your account, should be available immediately, but it is not the case with IceSave. You will not be able to withdraw your funds until after 10 or more days.

Since their rate has dropped so much recently, IceSave is now increasingly out of favour.
    Vodafone sucks.

not necessarily - I'm quite happy with 6.8% for a six-month saver with them.
