You must had a better list of books than me psychoathabble.

    I was selling books from 50p to a £1.
selection of fiction and non fiction. Probably sold about 10-15 books in total.

I did sell other items. But for a hot and busy day. I still had lots left.
At the car boot I have been to. Every other stall is selling books and clothes. So you have to find a way to get people to go to your stand rather than others.
  • Hi, Interesting to read your experience. I have just listed 20 or so books from my own collection, mainly travel books from 1930-1950, also car books and antiques books. What do you find sells best?

There is a very long thread on the ebay and others board (see my signature) with advice and tips about Amazon selling which I shall go and bump for you. The first post or two give all the tips and hints that we sellers have found useful in the past.

Selling books on Amazon can be very rewarding but you do need to take into account condition, sales rankings and costs before deciding whether something is worth selling or not.

have a look at similar books in similar condition on those sites to see what they are selling for.
Thats what I do when selling things on ebay.

Amazon though is not the same as Ebay as you can't see the completed items. All a seller can do is see who else is selling the item and for how much and even that is not always a good indicator as you need to take into account that some pro sellers have postal contracts that mean they can undercut on price as their postage is much cheaper. Also basic pro sellers get an additional 83p per book, so that skews the figures as well and explains the number of 1p books that still cost a fortune to post.

  • I sell other bits too which probably gets people looking... then I usually just have all the books in boxes down one side of my stall. I guess most of my books are fairly new or by popular authors as I am a HUGE bookworm but regularly clear them all out. Hope you manage to sell them x
  • I would say do NOT sell with Amazon. If you need money urgently, a car boot sale would be the best way to go, especially as you can sell other items. I sell on Play.com and although it has its downsides, which I will elaborate on in a moment, it is better and you get more money from it. Amazon probably gets more visitors, and you can sell things on there you cannot sell on Play, eg SIM cards, phones, CD singles, cassettes, board games, etc etc, but as someone else said, you end up having to reduce prices to 1p and can end up at a loss and there are fraudsters on there; I got banned from selling as someone pretended they had not received a mobile phone handset I had sent out...funny that was hte only thing that never arrived in 4 years of selling, eh? Play is a better deal by far; I have made over £100 since May, and that is after deducting postage costs.
