I have just noticed that in addition to the 'computer administrator' account that used to be my one and only on this PC - there is now another one called 'ASP.NET Machine A...'
It is a limited account and is password protected.
There is noone else who uses this PC.
Googling ASP.NET brings up http://asp.net/Default.aspx?tabindex=0&tabid=1
Can anyone tell me whats going on?
Have I cause to be worried about anything?

If you decide to keep the account, you can hide it:

(If it's XP and you use a welcome screen that is).

Run Windows update... there is a service pack for the .NET framework 1.1 and some security patches. I think one of those actually removes it for you... remember to check the optional updates down the left hand side...0

Its just so the .net framework has only limited priveleges and so cannot do any damage to your pc.
.NET programs are not run normally, they are read by the framework which does what the program tells it. If the framework doesnt have too many permissions it cannot do too much damage, non?0
