conservatory build

hi just registered new to this ,not sure im in the right place, my question is regarding property,, i want to build a lean-to(conservatory) outside the back of my house,ive got a double extension, bedroom and kitchen,then theres about 8 ft to next doors wall dou,ble extensionso i want to use next doors wall to secure plasterboards on so ill get the full width and not leave a gap between propertys,ive asked neighbour if its ok,they havent got a problem with it, were do i stand if i go ahead and build it,,,,,permission wise thanks

    if you have a dwarf wall beneath the conservatory, then you will need planning permission.
    you should also check out the party wall act and get written approval from neighbour

    better to contact local council and have chat with them

  • the lean to will have no sides as i would be using next doors and my outside walls it would just be a pvc roof,front door and window, plaster board next doors outside wall,but i dont like to ask for it in writing,the have just given verbal ,could there be comebacks,,,thanks

    I would be very wary of a verbal agreement, as the neighbour might not be there for ever. Then you would be left with your structure secured onto someone elses property and on someone elses land.

    I would say you need everything signed and sealed to rule out any future problems for both you and your neighbour with house sales

    the party wall act - now requires confirmation in writing....... it is something that could trip you up if/when you try to sell the property.
