Car Insurance Renewal Due?

Let me give you a heads up on car insurance renewals...
For the past 3 years as soon as i get a car insurance renewal in the post i then go to that dealers website and get a car insurance quote and every year it has been cheaper for me to take out a new policy than renew with the same company. Every little helps.

Just a cautionary word of advice. I've been told by a couple of people over the age of 70 that it's not a good idea to keep changing your insurance company every year because there's a possibility that if you have an accident and are with a new company, they may be a bit "iffy" about renewing your insurance when the policy is due to come up for renewal, or you will pay a much higher premium. As these two individuals were insured with different companies I don't know whether there's an ageist issue at work here, but if you are an older driver and have a good No Claims Bonus, it may be worth sticking with your existing company. Perhaps others in the Over 70 category can throw more light on this.

There is another disadvantage as well.
Certain companies have high cancellation charges in the first year, but much lower in subsequent years.
I guess this makes sense because this reflcets the admin costs of policy set up.
If you keep changing then you risk higher cancellation charges.

I'm not saying that people shouldn't do it, but you should bear in mind that there may be costs down the line.

You can also make massive savings using cashback sites for your car insurance.

Sometimes you can get over £100 in cashback (even if you take out a new policy with your current insurer).

    Yes this is correct.
I got £120 cashback this year from Lloyds TSB on a policy of £150.
    Can't complain about that.
Quidco is definitely worth a look.
I have never had a problem but be aware that cashback in not guaranteed for various reasons.

Hi, I am thinking of using Quidco to take out 2 car insurance policies. I could get 90 pounds from them for taking AIG policy on one car and 70 pounds for taking RAC policy on the other car. I'm doing both tomorrow but am nervous about whether it will work as there are so many people saying things are not working properly at Quidco now. I am completely new to this and want to make sure i do this right. It seems so complicated when i read on Quidco's site all the things that can go wrong with tracking. Both the policies are in my top 4 from my search on go compare so am sorely tempted to have a go.

Would anyone recommend Quidco at the moment or would I be better off to go for a less lucrative deal with for instance Topcashback who seem more reliable at the moment? Opinions welcomed!

With insurance policies bought on line you usually get 14 days to read the documents, during which you can cancel and get your money back.

This 14 days won't start until you actually get the documents, so this should be long enough to see that the transaction has tracked.

If it doesn't you can cancel and go elsewhere.

Both companies you are considering are covered by quidco's sureshop scheme which gives some reassurance.
