Could anybody advise best prepaid Mastercard for use on internet?
VISA Electron not always accepted. Some prepaid cards appear to have high ongoing costs.
I like idea of prepaid card as alternative to credit card due to extra safety but still has ease of use.

Hi,
You can see a list of prepaid cards here, with each of the payment types; MasterCard, Maestro, Visa, etc...
MasterCard / Visa are the ones most widely accepted.
I think Maestro is quite good for online spending too, but not so well accepted abroad.
Hope this helps,0 -
Was interested in these as I wanted to start using the 'piggy bank' system.
I have a poor credit rating, but my finances are now getting in order, so I've got a new bank account (with debit card
) with the Bank of Scotland, as well as my existing Nationwide (cash card only) account, and my existing credit card (which I've relied on, but it does cost me)
I'm thinking that a prepaid card would be handy for my 'Holiday pig'.
Am reading through now. :silenced:0 -

Will you earn interest on the money while you're saving it up on your prepaid card? Egg Money card allows positive balances and pays interest, not great, but at least something - it's not technically a prepaid card though so spender beware

Ty CannyJock for your reply.
I don't think I would get an Egg card TBH, as my credit rating is bad.
And it would be worse if I was refused, so I don't think I'll try that.
Would be a good idea otherwise, so thanks.
As for earning interest, the simple answer is no, so I may rethink...
maybe get a simple savings account, and if/when i need to get a(nother) card then get a pre-paid a week or 2 before. :silenced:0
