thetrainline.com - ticket arrangement fee??

Anyone know when this was introduced and why?
Ticket arrangement fee £0.50

Might as well purchase the ticket at the station instead of in advance since I'm getting a Saver Return.

Even the cashback through quidco wouldn't cover it lol

fairly recently - in the last couple of months.

But you can avoid paying it by buying through one of the train company websites (any one will do - doesn't have to be the one whose trains you will be using). They don't charge a CC fee either.

Lot longer than that - it was before GNER stopped running trains

Can't see why anyone would book with them especially as the company running the train you want to get will generally have offers that won't show up unless you use their website.

And if you are a foreigner the National Express East Coast website accepts foreign registration and credit cards.

Last time I used them they charged for credit card use, but not debit cards. So this fee is a new one. And completely avoidable, since the train companies do not charge.
