Line rental problem

I was with Tiscali until the 9th December 2007, then changed back to BT, so after I switched back to BT I thought I had gotten away from Tiscali and thought it would have cancelled out Tiscali Line Rental when I switched back but apparently not.
Basicly Tiscali is still charging me for line rental at £22.97 and yet I have payed BT the line rental for 3 months in advance from 4/12/07which was £37.73 which would cover me until March.
Here is the information from my so called still active Tiscali line rental.
Subscription Charges Package TypeTotal Cost (excl VAT) Tiscali Line Rental 01/Jan/08-31/Jan/08(number covered)£ 9.35Tiscali Line Rental 01/Feb/08-29/Feb/08(number covered)£ 9.35 Telephone Call Charges Call TypeTotal Calls Total DurationTotal Cost (excl VAT)(number covered)-Anytime Talk II (Broadband bundle)Premium Rate (09 numbers) 10:00:27£ 0.8511 Total new charges excluding VAT£ 19.55Total new charges including VAT£ 22.97
Basicly I have already phoned Tiscali on the matter, and never really got anywhere with them, and just saying they would pass on the charge to BT, which in turn would have passed on the charge to me, and I also called BT on the matter and basicly saying me to phone Tiscali.
I'm basicly praticly at my wits end, and the only thing I can see, is for me to raise a complaint to ofcom, but I want to get a second opionion before I do.

Welcome to the MSE forums meman887.
Assuming that you gave Tiscali whatever notice was required under the terms of the contract you had with them and that did not leave within the minimum contract period, Tiscali billing department appears not to have realised (or been notified) that you are no longer a customer and are continuing to bill you.
You need write to their Head Office (Recorded Delivery).
Obviously BT won't pay your bill if Tiscali send it to them.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Well when I did phone them to get my MAC code I also informed them the same day I was going back to BT, but by the looks of it, they failed to hear my cancellation on the Line Rental.0

That would explain your problem - landline rental and broadband are treated entirely separately.Well when I did phone them to get my MAC code I also informed them the same day I was going back to BT, but by the looks of it, they failed to hear my cancellation on the Line Rental.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market.
