ESP button on a 55 plate VW Golf
ok...stupid question.
If it's icy do I have it switched on or off and also what about "normal" driving conditions.
Also, for the air con to be OFF should the light be on on the button?

The ESP is on from the minute the engine starts.
When you press the button, it puts the light ON and turns the system OFF.
As for the aircon, i'm not sure if it's the same as an 04 plate Golf with manual aircon, but its on all the time. It goes ofdf when you press the ECON button...0 -
aircon is on wen the button is lit ...and off when its not same with everything lol
esp on until u press esp, when u do u will get a car viv skid marks in yellow on ur dashboard ...0 -
In severe icy conditions, it may be easier to turn ESP off. Basically, what happens is the wheels spin, ESP kicks in and cuts the power to the wheels. And then your in an endless cycle of not going anywhere. Turn it off, spin the wheels till you get going, and remember to switch it back on when your on clearer roads.0

I might try that on snow but never on ice0 -

Actually my aircon button says "econ" which I thought meant "economy" and when lit meant the air con was off hence why I asked"Sumptus censum ne superet"

Indeed, thanks for the clarification. this contradicts with what gsmmad said then. I did think what you were saying was the case though why the button can't just say "aircon" and be on when lit is beyond me. It's a thing that bug s me about the car, that and when I turn the directional airflow from say...foot back to top, the econ light then automatically goes out and the air con then kicks in.
Apart from that..I LOVE my car. Finally know what the fuss is about Golfs."Sumptus censum ne superet"

All cars with aircon or climate automatically turn the aircon ON when you direct the fan towards the windscreen as it clears it 100& faster then regular air...0
