Problems with our move - sellers partner has put a legal hold on the house sale!!!

Thanks everyone.
I've been to see my rental estate agent and they have been kind enough to let me give a months notice from any date of the month so that should make things a bit easier.
I'm giving the seller(s) a few days and then I will make an altermatum but I don't want to lose this house so I won't be to harsh.
As for looking at other houses, there isn't much around that meets my requirements but I will keep an eye open just in case.
I'll keep updating this post with how I get on for those that are interested.
Many thanks

Please suggest to you solicitor that he asks them to sell with the "seller's" solicitor holding the money.
This is by far the most practical and swift way of dealing with this and you do not have to be harsh or give ultimatums at this stage. It takes nothing for them to set up as the solicitors will already have a system for transferring funds to an interest bearing account, that interest being payable to the couple on closing the account.0 -
Thanks, I will. I'll speak to him tomorrow and see what he says.

The latests-
I have asked my solictor and estate agent out find out if they would go for the option of selling the house now and putting the money in a holding account and then argue over it. I've also issued a slight Ultimatum, I've told the estate agent to tell the seller and his ex that if I don't find out by the end of the week whether this is going to be resolved quickly then I will be reviewing my offer...
I'll let you know how I get on...

Sorry about this Simon. I've been offline [trouble with broadband] and only read this today.
Did they not sign the contract?
I think you should be a little more firm though and say that you will withdraw if it's not resolved within so many days. They will not want that and will come to some agreement quickly. Otherwise they will think that you are so keen that they can hold out for a while while they argue amongst themselves.
Good luck Simon,0 -
I might be getting somewhere... The estate agent called me yesterday and the couple are meeting today (Thursday) to talk about things. The estate agent me told the guy was happy to but the money in a holding account if needs be to keep the sale going but he was confident that they would be able to come to an agreement over who gets what so this wouldn't be neccessary.
The EA is ringing me Friday to let me know the outcome, I'm not counting my chickens yet but sounds a little more promising...
If they don't sort out their differences or agree to sell putting the money in a holding account then on Friday I will be asking the Estate agent for information on some other houses - that'll get them worried...

Good luck Simon, let us know how today goes.

Hi all,
Some good news...
After many days of being told that the couple were talking to one another and finding out they hadn't. I found out yesterday afternoon that they have finally agreed on an amount that they are giving each other and the sale is going ahead... Yeah :-)
I'm talking to my solicitor today and going to try and arrange a move date but it's looking like it might be the 25th but I'll wait and see...
Thanks everyone for your support...
