I drew attention of the firm to this thread and received the following e-mail reply:

Subject: Wheatsheaf Baslow

Thank you for your comments and details of the money saving expert web site.

The area manager for the Wheatsheaf, Dave Hoyland is currently on holiday. In his absence I am investigating the issues raised in the lady's email to enable him to respond to her concerns next week.

As a company we take every complaint seriously and I will ensure the matter is investigated fully.

TGI Fridays complaint letter I sent into regarding an expensive meal, got £40 voucher from them. I always chose to write my complaints after the meal and I don't like to further ruin my day with a face to face arguement in the middle of a restaurant. A letter to the manager and a couple of weeks for a reply then a letter to head office if you don't get one or are still not happy (CC the manager again though) usually results in vouchers from most chains.

"I visited your restaurant recently with my partner we had a chicken BLT and ultimate burger.

The food was very nice but extremely expensive - £13.60 for a burger – even the portion size was not large enough to justify this price. Your American image means the customers expect huge portions – especially when ordering something called the “ultimate burger”. What we received was nothing more than a big mac on a plate. In the US l’ve ordered normal burgers and they’ve arrived bigger than your ultimate burger!

I work near your restaurant and past it everyday, l’d be tempted to eat there much more often if l found the prices more appropriate and the customer service excellent.

I’d like a refund in the form of a cheque/voucher so l can at least have 2 for the price of one on this burger.
