Vomit on Leather sofa (nice...)

Hi all,
Don't read this if you are eating!!!!!
Please please help! A 'guest' in our house left us with vomit on our cream leather sofa - the stain is kind of orange and is obviously from the stomach acids. The stain we can live with (not too noticeable and can cover with a cushion) but the smell is unreal. We have not even finished paying for these sofas!! We have tried the recommended leather cleaner, vinegar and water and baby wipes. I have a professional cleaner coming out next Monday (we paid for cleaning service when we purchased the sofas and will be cleaned for free) but in the meantime the stench is really bad. Any tips will be welcome. I don't want to damage the sofa any more.
I telephoned a cleaning company who specialise in cleaning leather sofas and they said that leather is very porus and it is hard to get rid of the smell. I cannot take the cushions/base off and air it - it is all attached to the sofa.
I am so upset - any advice will be gratefully appreciated. I also don't want to get rid of these sofas - they are really nice, fit our living room perfectly and well - it is a waste to get rid of them.
thanks all,
catherine xx

Have you got house contents insurance? If yes, you might be able to claim on your insurance.10 Dec 2007 - Led Zeppelin - I was there. :j :cool2: I wear my 50 (gold/red/white) blood donations pin badge with pride. Give blood, save a life. 0

good luckWhen you know better you do better0 -
I'll give the baby wipes another go - I only had fragrance free ones in the house. I'll also let you know how the leather cleaning company manages.
God what a weekend! If I was in USA I think I'd sue for stress - the 'guest' left me a Trainspotting style bathroom (and not just in the toilet ) I've cleaned it four times now!!!!
As for home insurance - I have accidental damage cover on my home insurance, but I'm reluctant to get rid of these sofas - I love them. Thanks all.

Check your policy details. I have to pay a £100 excess for accidental damage.
I suppose if your policy is the same, you could ask for the money off your guest as a fine !!

Probably hindsight, butif it happens again clean it ASAP. It happened to our sofa (thankfully it's a dark merlot colour) and we cleaned it straight away and the smell went quickly.
DFS's sofa cleaner is very good and did the job of getting rid of the smell (along with lots of air freshener!)
And I take it the guest will not be returning?0
