Abuse From Buyer Plus Threats!

I sold an item last week the buyer sent e-mails about two days after I had received the cheque asking where her item was.
I gave her the date the cheque would clear and posted the item on the same day it cleared. Giving her the date of Thursday that I expected the item to be received. She informed me that she had not received the item on Thursday I then asked her to wait till Friday and then contact me.
She did not contact me on Friday or Saturday that item had not been recevied and I assuned ut had been received. I have just received two e-mails full of abuse asking for a full refund and threats that she would come around.
I have a proof of postage that confirms that I have dispatched the item.
What I want to find out is, if it is my part to just prove that I have sent the item (she did not take insurance and I just have a proof of postage) or send her a full refund and claim for the money myslef via Royal Mail.
I have only had one occasion when buyer informed me that they had not received item although were quite decent about this and I offered to claim via Royal Mail though they received item following day! So not sure how the refund process works.

I usually do this, but I don't usually have buyers like this one! The Royal Mail won't allow you to make a claim until 15 days are up. In my experience it's not uncommon for a first class item sent on Thursday to arrive on Monday or Tuesday. This buyer sounds such a nightmare that I wonder whether she will be honest if it does turn up today or tomorrow.0 -
Firstly it is your responsibility to make the claim from the Royal Mail but such a claim cannot even be started until 15 working days after posting.
Usually I would suggest that you stall your buyer for at least a couple of weeks and then pay her out in advance of the claim. However, in this instance I think I would walk away and take the neg if necessary. There is no excuse whatsoever for abusive mail and I would not leave it at that. Go into help on ebay and through the contact us menu and report her for abusive emails. You will need to send them the email together with headers.
If you feel the abusive mail is 'slight' enough to continue to deal with this buyer then ask her to wait a bit longer as th epost is quite dreadful in some areas, but if the mail is really unpleasant then just ignore her and report her to ebay as outlined above.

I totally agree with soolin... and not being funny, but who is to say that she is now going to admit when the items arrive. . . ?
Abuse should be reported, that isn 't on at all....

Hi
As said i would inform ebay about this pleasant person.
Also Add her to your block bidder list.
Tiz a shame we cant name and shame the small minority that spoil ebay.

I've just sent one of her abusive e-mails to Ebay, I've just noticed that another item I am selling has a high bid from a buyer who only has a feedback of 1 provided by the absuive buyer of my original item!
I'm slightly concerned that she has two id's and has bid on my second item using her other id.
Not sure if I should cancel the bid or wait for someone to outbid. It's the fisrt time I have come across someone like this.
I thought I'd tell my husband about her threatening e-mails but he'll just tell me to refund her in full and save a neg!0 -

My husband's the same, he doesn't understand the 'politics' of ebay. However, for me the moment someone gets abusive I walk away, ebay isn't so important to me that I have to accept abuse from a stranger.
As for your possible problem with the 1 feedback bidder, cross reference the two ids, see if there is any pattern between them for buying and selling (you can see completed bids for the past 30 days). Check where they are registered as well.
If it still looks suspicious then report to ebay immediately. If you want an extra pair of eyes to have a look, either pm me with the user id or one of the others on here if you know them, I'm sure there are several of us who would be happy to help.

Even I can hear alarm bells ringing here !!
Ask for contact details from ebay, see if there is some connection with the first acount....like the same town / city. See if they put in a stupid name like M.Mouse as the contact name.
I'd be inclined to cancel the bid here. wait for a response and see if the isp name is the same on both email accounts, if it is then there are too many coincidences to.

I would also report this person to their ISP.
I know for a fact that most ISPs will contact their customers who send out out abusive, threatening mail.
If the person is using a free mail account like yahoo or hotmail, also report them there...if you send a copy of the abusive mails to them they will generally suspend the accounts immediately.0 -
Thankyou for all your help, I've sent copy of one of the e-mails she sent me to Ebay, though have had no response from them.
I though it was all over and she was happy with the item as I did'nt get any e-mails from her. Her usual time of sending me the e-mails was just past 10am, but received an e-mail around 5pm to say she has'nt received it and what I was going to do now!
I'm almost sure she has received it and wish there was some way to prove this.
I've contacted the Royal Mail helpline who have asked me to wait 15 days.0
