Citreon C1/Peugeot 107
Hi everyone
My 07 plate car is due its 1yr service next month. 9,700 miles on the clock.
Do I have to get it done at the dealership? Or can i get it done at a reputable local garage?
Anyone had any experience with citreon and non dealer servicing? If I needed any under warranty repairs, are they likely to be funny about doing them, since they didnt service it?
Likewise, my mum has a peugeot 107 due its 1yr service. Anyone got any experience of peugeot?
Thanks in advance

Our Aygo first service at a Toyota main dealer cost £104 - about half of this was parts. For the stamp in the book to prevent any future issues over the warranty and a full interior and exterior valet it was worth it - an independent wouldn't have been much cheaper.0

You can have the cars serviced anywhere, not necessarily a specific marques dealer. As long as it's carried out to manufacturer's specification and with approved parts and fluids. Whoever does it may also stamp the service book to that effect.
It will not affect the warranty.
However, get some prices from various places, including the main dealers because they might price match or beat - the cost is not set in stone.0 -
my mum has already booked her service for the 107.
quoted £135 so far, all going to plan0 -

What constitutes manufacterers specifications? And how do you know what parts are approved?
That sounds like the sort of thing they woudl try and catch you out with if claiming on the warranty. If you found my comment helpful, please click the 'Thanks' button below :T0 -
Have just called round local citroen dealers
Arnold Clark Citroen wants £185!
Citroen Glasgow say £155
Citroen Kilmarnock £148.75
Just waiting to see what local garage says0 -
Call a Toyota garage and ask for an Aygo first service price.0

Using an independant won't invalidate your warranty and may be cheaper, however you may want to consider that a lot of buyers like to see a full dealer service history when/if you come to sell.0

Just Google 'Block Exemption' - that will tell you exactly where you stand.
basically, you can go anywhere you like, as long as, the garage is VAT registered, the vehicle is serviced to the manufacturers spec and genuine/and or equivalent parts are used.
Just be aware that alot of stealerships are only doing a 'visual' service on the first service now! Basically oil and filter and a look around, so you are not always getting what you think. And the bill doesn't reflect that either!
We always, always, go through the service as normal regardless - a damn good look and wheels off etc to check brakes etc.
To give you a rough guide, we charge approx £85 for a 1st service on a Yaris - it should only need the oil and filter - sometimes the air filter may need changing, it shouldn't - but it depends if its done alot of city driving.
An Aygo would be a similar price - same oil filter.Genie

Ask what the service includes i.e. time, parts content, and type and grade of oil. Bear in mind that some modern oils can be very expensive, particularly with longer service intervals. Also find out if they have added anything extra e.g. fuel system flushes, which you do not need.
It is always better to stay with dealers in the early years as they are better placed to tell you if your car has any outstanding recalls or updates (at the manufacturers expense); they will always use manufacturers parts and the correct oil (which not all independents will do); they can fix any issues that they find under warranty there and then (saving a separate trip to the dealer); they can put a genuine stamp in the service book which some used car buyers value
P.s. I just notice that Jeanie is an Essex girl

Thanks for all your replies
Called my local reputable garage. They can and will do my service for me. They called citroen to ask if there were any issues to be aware of, or recall things that a dealer would know about but they wouldnt. Will use the correct oil which they have verified with citroen.
Price £85
Cant beleive it is less than half the price of the dealer! I want to call the dealer and ask how they can justify charging double what my independant garage charges, and why they are the dearest dealership too.:mad:0
