Hi there,
I have been on a DMP with payplan for about 5 months now.
I have MBNA, HSBC and Egg as my creditors. Egg were great and accepted pretty much straight away, MBNA (to my surprise!) accepted after one telephone call and even corrected my account to show no arrears and HSBC CC were the worst and last to actually accept my DMP. First they kept stating not received anything from payplan and then just kept sending me letters...I just responded to each and every one and eventually they accepted. They did not like corresponding with Payplan though and always sent the letters to me and advised that I should forward it to Payplan if I wished too.
Good luck, it will all sort itself out soon. I just wish I had done is sooner as turning 30 this year and want my first little one soon but like your OH my OH is being sensible and me to a point and are going to wait until a large sum of the debt has gone....I hate money!!0 -
Hi pinkladez. Just like to say good luck to you. Your OH & yourself are on pretty much the same income as OH & I. We have found life hard at times just lik yourselves & most other DFW's. I am refering to your other thread where you were thinking about selling up to clear your debts. OH & I were so fed up a few weeks ago that we nearly consolidated everything onto our mortgage. So glad we didn't now. We have changed a few of our spending habits & are now starting to feel the benefits. You have time on your side & in no time you will be on the right path to clearing your debts. Not on here to lecture you about where you can cut back,as you have been on here long enough to know where you can make savings. Just saying alot of people your age would give their right arm to have a house worth £160k. Good luck.Debt at LBM(July 1st 07)-£35,053.92 Debt on 1st Anniversary of LBM(July 1st 08)-£33,170.11 (31st January 09)-£32,318.73Paid off so far £2,735.19(7.8%) Average paid off p.m. £143.95 L/H supporter 115 DFD target February 2018 DFD March 2028. thank you both for your advice. yeah i'm kind of glad in a way that we do have a redemption fee that is stopping us sell up now, least we hve plenty of time to look at all the options and make to rash decisions that we will regret in the long run.
sortingit- yeah sometimes it bugs me that dh has slapped the baby ban on me, but i know if i am being sensible that trying to get out of debt first is the best option. Having children isn't cheap and if you are anything like me you could end up spending a fortune on them (clothes, toys etc). I guess at least by waiting, i know what money i do have i can spend all on my children!!0
