    No.

    Memories are priceless …

Let’s be honest, we all have home movies from the last century when every home in the land had a tape player!

Remember the time the kids were jumping around in the paddling pool (or maybe it was you!), crying at your birthday or the time when you ran around naked on the beach during summer holidays? Well relive these classic times with all the family without spending hundreds of pounds on getting these converted onto dvd.

Everyone in our office still has the Beverly Hills Cop or Flash Dance on tape (although they don’t own up to it!) and im sure it’s the same for a lot of you. It’s becoming increasing harder to watch those classic movies you have stored up over the years, so grab at the chance now

The Funai VCR is not only a high quality piece of kit but it is fantastic value. So whether its watching those precious childhood moments, grandads drunken speech at your wedding or watching some of Hollywoods classics, be sure to buy one. If you don’t you may regret it in 5 years time!

    Hate to sound negative, but...

Never heard of the make, the spec looks crap and it's refurbished. Personally, I wouldn't put a cherished old tape in a machine like that.

ITS £7.99 for gods sake! - you're lucky to get two pints for that!

Im thinking of buying one - looks good. We recently bought a dvd recorder and it is absolutely useless. you've missed the programme by the time its loaded, formatted and ready to record - if it can be bothered and it doesnt tell you if the cd is full - GIVE ME BACK MY VCR ANYDAY.

Surely you only have to format RW discs? If you use the record once ones, at 10p a time does it matter if you only record one prog per disc.

If you prefer RW discs, format the blank dvds in advance and have a pile of formatted blanks available for when you need to record in a hurry. No different from formatting an old floppy for the pc. With long progs, set the recorder quality to leave sufficient time for the full programme.

I was interested in this until i saw'refurbished'.
I was planning to go to argos next week and pay £30 for a new one!

Now I'm not sure wether to take a chance with my precious old tapes in a refurbished machine or go with a new one

That doesn't mean jack if it chews up, snaps or otherwise destroys your videotapes!

erm, methinks that's where you're going wrong if you're trying to record programs onto a CD !!!!. Try using DVD discs - if you've just formatted them then you should be able to record 2 hours worth of TV (using standard play), and as dc has suggested, make sure your discs are formatted in advance rather than waiting until a program starts before deciding to format them.
