Tesco Home Insurance.....

I took up the Tesco Home insurance offer and obtained a quote, £300, which was comparable with my current insurance except the building sum insured was £1,000,000 and not £500,000 - this could not be changed when requesting the quote. When I rang to accept the quotation, thinking the quote was £300 and 50% off would be £150 premium for the year, I was informed that the actual cost of the insurance was £450 and that the £300 quoted was the discounted price. Very misleading I think....

I was just about to post asking if the quote on the website is the full or discounted price because my Tesco quote is comparable with others I've had. If it's discounted by 50% that would make the original price almost double the amount from other companies.
I am assuming that the quote is discounted and if that is the case then it's not a good offer

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. The Tesco home insurance (online) offer states that the discount of 50% is made up of their normal 15% online discount plus a further 35% discount.
When you apply for a quotation & are given a price of £xxx.xx that is the price ie.including 50% discount. If you read what's on screen it's quite clear!0
