Post Office Car Insurance cheat customers

I received an online quote for comprehensive insurance from the Post Office on 28th February, and was emailed confirmation of the quote the same day. Cover price was £163.
Yesterday, I went back to the quote to take out the policy. None of the details I input originally had changed, yet on clicking the Buy Now link in the email, it brought up cover price of £582.
Customer services claim that "there was a server error, so your original quote was wrong", yet there has been no mention of problems (via email or as a message on their phone line) until I tried to purchase.
The Post Office are refusing to honour the quote which the email clearly states is valid until 28th April

Thanks for letting us know, but they are within their rights to do this.
There is no contract until you have bought the policy.
It's a bit like a mis-price on a shelf in the shop.
There is no contract until you buy so they can refuse to sell at the erroneous price.
Some will honour it for small items out of goodwill.0
