Depending on what machine you have, you might be able to make it multi-region.
This will enable it to play both region 1 & 2 dvds.
Many machines can be coded via the handset.
Post your machine details on here and I'm sure somebody will be able to help.0 -
Try googling your dvd specs along with multi-region and see what comes up...
i did that and was able to change my player to play all region discs...CARPE DIEMaut viam inveniam aut faciamBe sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour0 -

I managed to make my Lite-On multi region. It was pretty easy - just followed instructions I found online. Can't do it with my expensive Panasonic dvd player though - apparently it can be done by buying a special remote control!0

You can get apps for the PC that will let you use the IR on your pc (or more likely laptop - desktops don't TEND to have 'em) instead of the special remote. There might also be an app for mobiles, not sure. They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0 -
Oh, thanks for that.
My OH has a laptop - i'll have a look online and see what I can find out. 0 -
If you want to hack a PC drive, Google for RPC1. Basically, a RPC2 drive is locked, whereas a RPC1 drive has no region lock. You can check the status of a PC drive with InfoTool (the tool bundled with Nero). If your drive is RPC2, it is possible that the link you will find with Google will propose an unofficial hacked firmware that will render your drive region free (i.e. RPC1). Note that it you do so, you also need to bypass the software protection (I use Media Player Classic which does not restrict to a region).
Alternatively, you could make a copy of the DVD which does not have the region protection. To do so, you could use a software called AnyDVD that removes the protection on the fly on your PC while another software copies the DVD, but it might not be quite legal.0 -
I use dvd43 on both my laptop and desktop. I've managed to make my cheapy DVD player region free but not the more expensive one in the living room."Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."

As far as I am aware it is OK to make one backup of dvds & cds that you own.
I'm sure I will be corrected if thats not true.....
Here is your correction: No it isn't. It's even still illegal to rip music to mp3. Definitely still illegal to make backups."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"
